Looking For An Exciting Book?
I just finished reading – in two days – Book One of Tollan Ian Wade‘s new series, America One. It kept me glued to the pages – well, the Kindle pages – the whole time. Here’s what I recently wrote to Tollan on Facebook: ” I just started reading America One and had to tell you that you’ve outdone yourself. I enjoyed Invasion USA but America One may be even better. The characters are likeable, the action moves right along, and the technical aspects are very believable. For me, the best indicator that I’m really enjoying a book is whether I pick it back up and continue reading every time I get even a moment – and with America One, I do! Good job!” If you want an exciting techno-read with fast pace...

Review Of Momnesia From A Testosteronic Point Of View: I’m going to admit right up front that, for a very long time, I’ve avoided books by women authors. Before you light the torches and round up the mob, let me add that the reason was, because I read almost exclusively for pleasure and escape, I found that books by women writers were too… well, nuanced. I’m looking for things to move along and not linger so much on the touchy-feely stuff. Okay, I’m generalizing but you get the idea. Nothing against women per-se, Lord knows, I just wanted a bit more testosterone in my reading material. I was perfectly happy with this approach until I met author Kathy Reichs a few years ago and spent a little time with her and her husband Paul on a...

Read MoreHome, Hot Tub and Landscape Show September 2012
This weekend, it was once again time for the semiannual Home, Hot Tub and Landscape Show at the Raleigh Convention Center. Admission was free, although the parking – which usually only averages me a couple of hours – is $7 for all day at the garage across the street. The promoters use a marketing ploy of sticking little 3” X 3” free admission coupons on the front page of the local newspaper for several days leading up to the show. Last time, I collected those little things and carried them with me, only to learn that they’re unnecessary. There’s a box at the door to toss them in, but you can bypass it with impunity. There were all the things you’d expect from an event called “Home, Hot Tub and Landscape Show.” But this time, I decided...
